I’m Samantha Cooper, 33, and I came to Jaco Beach on a mission to collect as many sunsets and “wow” moments as I could in one trip. Jaco and the surrounding areas delivered more than I expected. I stayed in a Stylish Jaco Beach Airbnb Apartment that put me in the sweet spot between ocean, tours, and nightlife.
Four experiences became the core of my trip: Miro Mountain Hike, a dreamy Villa Caleta Sunset Happy Hour, a relaxed evening at Amara Costa Rica Cocina Mediterranea, and a dressed-up night out at Mynt Lounge in Jaco. The Miro hike gave me sweeping views over Jaco and the Pacific, Villa Caleta turned sunset into a full event, Amara served one of the best dinners I’ve had in ages, and Mynt wrapped everything in music, lights, and hookah.
Days were all about layering adventures and relaxation. Some mornings I walked or jogged along Jaco Beach, watching surfers catch early waves. Other days I headed out by taxi or Uber to Playa Hermosa, Herradura, and the Los Sueños marina, or hopped on buses to explore farther toward Esterillos and Bejuco. Every ride felt safe, and every driver seemed to have a favorite viewpoint, waterfall, or restaurant to recommend somewhere between Jaco, Tarcoles, Quepos, and Manuel Antonio.
The people I met turned those recommendations into real experiences. My hiking guide shared stories about growing up in the region and pointed out birds and plants I never would have noticed. Bartenders at Villa Caleta and Mynt mixed drinks, swapped travel stories, and made sure I knew the best angles for photos. Waitstaff at Amara and other restaurants took real pride in their dishes and in making visitors feel welcome.
At night, Jaco gave me endless options and never once felt dull. I mixed beach bars with live music, casinos with bright lights and happy noise, and clubs where the dance floors stayed full until late. Walking back to my apartment, even close to sunrise one night, felt safe and relaxed. The streets were active, the atmosphere was friendly, and the sound of the ocean in the background tied it all together.
By the end of the trip, my camera roll was overflowing with sunsets, rainforest, and ocean views—but the memories that stuck most were of the people, the laughter, and the sense of freedom I felt wandering between beach, mountains, and nightlife. Jaco is one of those places that makes every day feel like a highlight reel, and I’m already planning my return for more of the same.
